Karaoke mics are built to the opposite brief from studio mics: not maximum detail, but feedback rejection, high SPL handling, and a comfortable grip.

Insist on UHF, not VHF
UHF has better interference rejection and more usable channels, so multiple mics in one room don't fight each other. Cheap VHF mics get walked on by household wireless gear, producing dropouts and noise mid-song. The extra cost is worth it.
Use dynamic mics, never condensers
Condensers are sensitive with a wide pickup pattern — an asset in a studio, a disaster in a living room, because they pick up the speakers too and feedback becomes near certain. Karaoke mics are dynamic, with tight directionality that only hears what's right in front of them.
Feedback usually isn't the mic's fault, but a good mic helps a lot
Feedback happens when speaker output re-enters the mic and forms a loop. Placement, level, and the amp's suppression all matter, but the mic's polar pattern and frequency response are a real part of the equation. Don't expect a new mic to fix everything — but the wrong mic guarantees it's worse.
Ask about battery life and pairing
Sessions routinely run two to three hours, and running flat mid-song ruins the night. Also check how mics pair to the receiver — good systems sync with one button, poor ones need manual frequency matching every time you change batteries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will these work with my existing amplifier?
If your amp has a mic input or built-in wireless reception, usually yes. Wireless mics need a matched receiver — our 4-in-1 amps have dual-channel reception built in, which is the simplest route. Buying mics alone, tell us your amp model and we'll confirm compatibility.
How many microphones do I need?
Two is standard for home use and covers duets. You can add more, but every additional live mic in the room increases feedback risk and makes tuning harder. Start with two.
My microphones keep feeding back. What now?
Don't replace gear yet. Check whether the mic is pointed at a speaker, whether singers stand directly in front of the speakers, and whether mic level is cranked. Those three account for most cases. The rest is handled by the amp's feedback suppression and EQ, which we set during installation.
